Eberlestock developed the x-type backpacks to answer the call for lightweight, high quality, ultra-versatile hunting packs. They focused on the essentials to give you some lean, mean, hunting machines. The X2 is a tough little pack with big pack features like oversized compression straps for lashing on a heavy load, dual hydration compartments, and Quick-access pockets for spotting scopes and tripods.
This pack was always in a class of its own, and now we've taken it even further into the realm of the unbeatable.

I bought this for a 20+ mile summer hike in the Yolla Bolie Wilderness area in CA. It performed very well.
One feature that drew me to it is the robust aluminum frame with well padded, yet highly ventilated back surface. This helps keep it cool and comfortable against your back. Frame in conjunction with the various straps allows you to get everything packed tight and solid without load shifting.
Notice the 2 side compartments. They hang and store at least one (could for two) 3 liter water bladders. I stored one 3 liter bladder one each side. I like how it stores the water off your back because this design seems to keep the water cooler. All 6 liters of which I drank during my hike.
The main center compartment is just enough space for a couple days of clothing and mess equipment/food. I used the shock cord to secure my sleep system.
The whole junction where the top straps and the thick side cross straps converge, provides for a wide array of possibilities for expanded storage. I also stuffed a rifle between one of the side compartments and tightened the cross straps and it help it securely and comfortably. As you get familiar with it you get to know all it's other small compartments on the top, front and pockets inside and outside of the 2 side compartments.
I bought mine in the tan color. I like the color but this particular color also comes in a beautiful suede leather material. A nice deviation from the typical cordura and away from typical tactical style material.
This pack has A LOT of possible uses. Hunting, hiking, duty or even travel. Linton had best price I could find. I wish I bought this year's ago. FINALLY one pack with all the features and practicality I've always wanted.

This is a well constructed pack and is made of durable materials. I added the Source Tactical 2 L Hydration Bag to it which fits nicely in the side pouches. It has a nice design with the big lid pouch lots of molle attachment sights, two nice side pouches for hydration set up, was concerned this might be an issue with not having the weight in the center of the pack but it doesn't seem to be an issue and is easy to access this way. It has the ability to carry up to 50#+ relatively easy for packing out, would be really nice if it had better lumber pad for these purposes but under 50# this really doesn't come into play. The Side pouches are little far back and flatten out under load making it difficult to get in and out of without taking off the pack, would be nice if you could attach holders (range finder, GPS, gun) to the waist belt but it really doesn't set up well for that. All in all though very durable pack made of very solid materials

nice pack. well made. I am 6 feet tall, but long in the body. this pack is a little small for me. unlike some other Eberlestock packs this one is non adjustable for body length other than with the straps. if I set the waist belt on my hips the sternum strap rides way high on my chest. also the hydration compartments are located on the outside edges of the pack. they are narrow and not too long either, about 6" wide, and 12" long from the clip for the reservoir. this seriously restricts the type of hydration bladder you use. if you chose Eberlestock bladders that adds $80 to the cost of the pack and I am not sure the bladders have any kind of warranty. I bought a couple 2 liter ones from Walmart for $10 apiece. I am sure they are no where near as good as the Source bladders, but at least I can return them for 90 days, and that is long enough to get me thru hunting season. overall a good pack, with some limitations.

I used this pack for the 2015 elk opener and was wondering how much weight it could handle. Chad was sure it could handle an elk quarter. As usual, he was correct. I was fortunate enough to harvest a bull and had to pack it about 1.5 miles back to the road. I used the X2 to carry a hind quarter, in addition to my regular pack contents, for the first trip out. The pack performed extremely well with that much weight and suffered no damage. I did switch to my Dragonfly for the rest of the meat hauling since I had it in the rig. But the X2 proved up to the task. I'm very impressed. As always, thanks Chad for knowing what you carry.

This my first high end pack and overall I love it. The quality of construction seems top notch. Quality materials. The design and layout of the pack is great I wouldn't change a thing. I've never had this much room and orginazation. The pack works for you. I give it a four only because I don't really see that load straps do a whole lot. Maybe I not using them correctly. Never had them before. The sternum strap seems a little high also. It would nice to to have some instruction on fitting it correctly. You tube is of an older model that hade removeable alum. Stays instead on the tubing frame. Not uncomfortable , but This is my first high end pack and overall I love it. The quality of construction seems top notch. Quality materials. Excellent comfort and versatility for a day pack. Easily controls boned out meat in a game bag. Able to carry 90 pounds of meat out on the first trip in surprising comfort. Left the pack frame in the truck and went back for more with the Eberlestock X2.

This is a great day pack, can be packed light and can carry a bunch of weight. Great access to bladders, and hip pockets a great for calls, snacks etc.
I used to have the X1A but felt it was a bit bulky, this pack feels great and has good balance.
Go with Linton, these guys are great and have a wealth of information to share!

This is the best and most used pack I own!
I put a TON of miles on this pack last year from Sept elk all the way to Wolves & Coyotes in the spring. I used it for day hunts, 2 night bivy hunts and several pack outs, the X2 never missed a beat!
The "bat wing" pockets are great for Hydration bladders or optics. I also used the Eberlestock scabbard with this pack a lot and it fit very secure. The abundant molle webbing is also great for strapping gear and odds and ends on the outside of the pack when you need to.
I would really recommend this pack for anyone, it definitely won't disappoint especially at under $200! The X2 is in a class of its own in my opinion!

This is the third Eberlestock pack I've purchased and it may fit and carry better than my J34 & mini-me! This is substantiated by the fact that is on backorder everywhere and I was lucky that Linton Outdoors had one last pack in stock!
Now that I'm a senior citizen, I need a pack to carry my stuff but still let me get some of the animal out on the way back to camp. 50-60lbs. a load is enough nowadays and this pack can do it, easily!
Linton is superb with their customer care service! They know how to run a business and understand Sportsmen!!
